San Francisco, CA— The Midway’s Artist Studio Residency (MASR) will be opening its second group exhibition, “Common Denominators” on Saturday, April 30th.  Resident artists, Yijun Ge, Stephen Longoria, and Jeffrey Yip have been preparing a body of work since moving into their studios in  January.

Viewers will not miss the diversity in media as they step into the gallery: an eight panel speaker installation by Jeffrey Yip, a multitude of symbol and graphics in woodcuts by Stephen Longoria, and a transcendent series of dream-driven oil paintings by Yijun Ge. Yet, there is a common thread, one single denominator all artists expose. Viewers are encouraged to study, engage in the work, and ask themselves, “what is it?”

The mission of The Midway’s Artist Studio Residency (MASR) is to promote and elevate artists in the Bay Area. As a venue that promotes artistic relevancy and art as cultural necessity, The Midway offers a studio space rent-free to each participating artist with programming including:

  • Workshops
  • Design and Branding
  • Curated exhibitions in The Midway Gallery
  • Promotions

These three selected artists were chosen from a talented pool of candidates in an open call by The Midway:

Jeffrey Yip, Projection and New Media, San Francisco

Yijun Ge, Painting, San Francisco

Stephen Longoria, Printmaking and Multi-media, San Francisco

“Common Denominators” is open April 30- May 22, 2022, with an opening reception April 30, 6-8pm for the public.
